With the beginning of the year come new curious minds and recruiting sessions. Recently we had an all girls recruiting session, to promote more female involvement in the sciences, hosted by our two female leads, Tina and Tara, which turned up two new team members the following meeting. Soon to come will be a general robotics informational meeting for any other people interested in what we do.
An important note for our current members; all of those who are going to CalGames in October, we need to know who you are and if you have direct parental confirmation. If you haven’t actually asked your parents, do it soon or consider yourself as staying behind.
Also, changes are going to be made to the website, hopefully over the next few months. This will include a few layout changes plus we’re adding a calendar to the site as well as new management over the 997 website.

We are proud to announce that you are now viewing the newest incarnation of the Spartan Robotics website. This time the redesign came surprisingly early giving plenty of time to work on content during the summer. Most things should be functional. Photos will be coming back fairly soon and the few remaining broken pages will be fixed. Feel free to comment!
With the goals of spreading the word about FIRST and the presance of this local high school’s robotics team we will be performing many community service acts and holding many fundraisers between now and build season.
upcoming events include:
Restoration of Wildcat Park
The Rose Show
Several “in-planning” Car-Washes
And many more events to come…
Also, one of our sponsors, Mario Pastega of the local Pepsi co., has asked us to build a robot to put up in the Christmas Display during the Holiday Season. So we will be working through the end of the year and into the next on this project so be sure to come see our final product and the several other displays that go up between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
However, with the comming of the end of the year, we will have to say goodbye to the Seniors who have brought so much to the team.
Former president, electrical captain, and all-around cool guy:
Andy “Sandy/Dandy/Candy Wandy” Parker -(we will clone you Andy…)
“Bumper guy”, mechanical worker and Main Team Driver of the ‘07 competitions:
“gimp-” Yi Li
And our Mechanical/Electrical/Pit Crew worker and Indonesian Foreign Exchange-student:
David Al-Roysid
We say goodbye to these technologicaly passionate individuals and wish them the best of luck in college, life, and to whatever may lie ahead in their futures. We also wish that they may come back to CHS and become the Mentors that drive the next generation of Spartan Robotics. We salute you.
Team 997 Visited OSU along with 3 other local teams (Crescent Vally 955, PHRED 957, and The Scallywags 1359) on Friday May 11th for the OSU Tech Fair. We showed off the robot from this year and talked with many local parents, students, and interested children.
We would just like to thank OSU for having us again this year and it was a blast!!!

With the competitions past, it is time for our members to launch into off-season tasks and projects, and with how much we have to do, we will be busy. From the monotonous task of cleaning and organizing the all too familiar wormhole of our robotics room, to designing modular robot parts for future challenges; even our fund raising the next build season has started.
On another note, with the 2006-2007 school year coming to an end, it came time to democratically ‘pass the torch’ and elect new all season leaders, and the polls have closed.

Congratulations Guys! Lets Get started…
