Team 997 is hosting an open house to demonstrate what they are all about! The open house will be held in the Corvallis High School (CHS) cafeteria from 11 AM to 1 PM. The events in the cafeteria will include the animation of this year’s new game, demonstrations from last year’s robot, and tours to the robotics room where the process of the building of this year’s robot can be watched. Anyone from FIRST lego-league teams, sponsors, parents, and anyone interested from the public are encouraged to come and enjoy the amazing world of robotics. Anyone among any age is welcome to check it out. Bring your friends, family and anyone else who can spare a little Saturday time. Parking in the CHS parking lot will be perfectly fine. We hope to see you there!

Tips & Tricks

We’ve added a new section to our website entitled Tips & Tricks. Go check it out! The first post is by our own Michael Dexter, and involves “best practices” for electronics. If you would like to submit your own Tips and/or Tricks, contact Devon Wilson (dwilson718@gmail.com), or Austin Brandt (mortossoulstealler@gmail.com).

Build season continues

Update: Team 997 continues to spend many hours designing the new robot, building parts and prototypes, teaching the new students skills to help in the building of said robot and beyond, and doing plenty of work to get the community involved with supporting FIRST robotics and team 997. There will also be a special occasion this year for the Spartans. On February 2nd of 2008, there will be an open house held for all who want to come check out the team and what they’ve been doing this year, as well as last year. Anyone from sponsors of the team, FIRST lego league teams, and the general public are encouraged to come explore the world of FRC robotics and see what it has to offer. The February 2nd open house will be in the Corvallis High School cafeteria (With tours to the robotics rooms where you will get to see this year’s robot in the making) from 11AM - 1P, or you can check us out any day but Sundays from 6PM-9PM on Mondays through Fridays and Saturdays from 12PM to 5PM. Thank you for your continued support of FIRST robotics team 997.

Start of Build Season

We have now started Build Season 2008. The game this year is challenging but Spartan Robotics Team #997 is up to the task. To view this year’s game, please Click Here. For other information about FIRST Robotics and FIRST Robotics Competitions, please Click Here.

Preparing For Build Season

We’re cleaning up and preparing for build season! Or attempting to that is. Through piles of random stuff, we are finally starting to get organized. Kickoff is January 5th at 6:30 A.M at the LaSell’s Stewart Center. Peace Fools,TIM

Animation available

Spartan robotics first ever animation is now available for everyone to view. Enjoy!

One of Corvallis‘ greatest citizens, Mario Pastega, has given team 997 a wonderful chance to spread the word of First Robotics to the community of Corvallis. The annual Christmas display that Pastega puts on at the Pepsi plant will be dispalying a custom-made robot designed and created by the CHS Spartan Robotics team.

To get an idea of what the robot will look like, picture a normal Christmas tree. Now, turn the branches into awesome plates of metal and add a super sweet robotic arm, and you have our robot.

The display lasts from Thanksgiving all the way to New Year’s day, so support your local robotics team and come see our robot!

Team 997 returns from Cal Games!

Though not winning the competition, Team 997 returned home to Corvallis satisfied with their efforts in the Woodside, California competition. They were able to compete with old rivals such as the Cheesy Poofs and old allies including Team 100. Now ready to complete the Christmas project for Mario Pastega’s Pepsi Plant Christmas display, Team 997’s competitions for the 2007 are now over.

Cal Games update

Just to clarify what we will be doing this week, on Tuesday we will be having a short meeting to finish packing and preparing for Cal Games. This meeting will be short so students can head over to the College Planning Night at the school. We will be leaving on Wednesday to California, so there will not be a meeting on Thursday. We should arrive back to Corvallis on Sunday.

Upcomming Events

Team 997 members,

We will be heading to Woodside California for the Cal-Games competition soon, so please be sure to get ALL your money in, if you have questions, contact Tim.

Soon after that we will be going to HP on October 19th for the HP Scrimmage, this is a yearly event, and we are going to thank HP for their support this year.

Meetings are still every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 - 9:00 PM in the Tech area at CHS.
